What are hormonal stimulants?
Hormonal stimulants are used to support the natural hormonal functions and more specifically to boost the production of testosterone or growth hormone (GH).
The main role of hormones
Testosterone
Hormone produced in large quantities in men and in small quantities in women, responsible for male characteristics, it reaches its highest level around the age of 20 and drops around the age of 30. Low levels of testosterone have negative effects on the body's ability to synthesize proteins, on muscle mass, bone density, sexual function and morale. Natural supplements help boost testosterone levels and improve performance and physical appearance. It is responsible for muscle hypertrophy.
GH or growth hormone
GH makes our bones, cartilage and muscles grow during childhood. But, as an adult, a high level of GH is associated with significant gains in muscle mass and a better fat/lean mass distribution. Peak GH secretion occurs mainly in the first few cycles of deep sleep. Thus, sleep quality is particularly important for anabolism.
Cortisol
Cortisol is the stress hormone, made by the adrenal glands from cholesterol. Its main role is to help the body cope with stress, stimulating the metabolism of carbohydrates, fats and proteins to give it the necessary energy. Overly long workouts negatively influence anabolism due to excess cortisol and can compromise progress.
The benefits of hormonal stimulants
First of all, they help thicken muscle fibers and multiply them, thus giving more volume and strength to the muscles. They promote muscle protein synthesis and therefore development. They are also a good support for the libido.
The different types of hormonal stimulants
Tribulus terrestris
This plant, which has become popular thanks to athletes from Eastern Europe during competitions, has been shown to improve sports performance. It would promote the manufacture of testosterone thanks to its saponins.
D-Aspartic acid
D-Aspartic acid increases testosterone production on the same principle as tribulus terrestris.
ZMA
Used as a natural testosterone booster, this combination of three ingredients zinc, magnesium and vitamin B6 called ZMA would improve testosterone production.
Aromatase blockers
These are plants that have the ability to limit the conversion of androgens into estrogens. The lower the estrogen level, the greater the stimulation of testosterone. These ingredients must be present in the formulations of hormonal boosters to be completely effective.
Amino acids
For an optimal rate it is necessary to consume supplements based on aspartic acid, amino acids and particularly BCAA, arginine and glutamine.
GABA
It comes from glutamine, it is a neurotransmitter that calms the central nervous system and promotes rest, recovery and sleep. It stimulates the secretion of GH or growth hormone in an important way.
Arginine
It promotes the secretion and production of nitric oxide in the body, to create vasodilation of blood vessels and thus drive more nutrients to the muscle.
Glutamine
It naturally stimulates the synthesis of GH and will therefore indirectly participate in the increase of muscle mass and the reduction of fat mass.
L.Tyrosine
Stimulates the release of dopamine which stimulates the synthesis of GH.
Mucuna pruriens
This leguminous plant contains L-Dopa which, transformed into dopamine, acts as a neurotransmitter to increase the secretion of growth hormones.
How do they work?
Hormones act as catalysts for physiological and metabolic reactions in the body. They allow, for an athlete, to better adapt the muscles to the work required. They therefore increase the size and number of muscle fibers. Their role is to stimulate the natural mechanisms of hormone production. They do not replace the production of hormones but come in reinforcement.
How to take hormonal stimulants?
Used in bodybuilding to improve results and performance, hormonal stimulants help to increase muscle mass and strength. Hormonal stimulants can be taken in the morning when you get up, before training and in the evening at bedtime. In the morning, they give the body a boost after the night. Before training, they release testosterone to make training as productive as possible. Finally, in the evening at bedtime, they stimulate the secretion of GH by the body in an important way during sleep.
What to take them with?
With BCAA
During training, they will be used for muscle growth, they are the champion amino acids of recovery.
With Whey
After training, taking pure proteins like whey triggers a delayed increase in GH.
With gainers
They stimulate anabolic hormones. This allows you to progress more quickly.
With carnitine
Carnitine plays an essential role in the stimulation of muscle anabolism and energy processes.
With NO precursors
Present in Pre-Workout, arginine increases GH levels, as does ornithine, an amino acid capable of stimulating GH production.
